TPT provides motivation for implementing a program as well as a rationale for making small shifts and seeing their importance.  Once a Tipping Point(TP) is reached, you can then identify it for what it is, take note of it, and look for the next one.  A positive reinforcement loop is set up.  The more you apply the theory, the more you will see results which results in new applications and a positive domino effect.  It may seem tautological, but seeing the value in a tipping point model is kind of a tipping point in itself.

Tipping Point Therapy (TPT) involves a new way of conceptualizing lasting emotional change and of conducting psychotherapy.  The model is integrative and not exclusionary.  In other words, it applies the most powerful overarching theory, psychoanalytic, as well as cognitive, behavioral and interpersonal schools.

TPT can be a useful model for tackling a wide range of emotional problems.  People often get discouraged that the small steps they are taking are not yielding results fast enough.  They then give up and hopelessness sets in.

Alternatively, they may get confused when things suddenly collapse, not realizing that there have been several small steps backwards until the straw that broke the camel's back.

A hit movie comedy once mocked an approach that emphasized "baby steps".  Ironically, the longer I practice, the more convinced I have become that it is often the accumulation of small efforts that have the most impact.  The tipping point model allows one to see the big picture.

The heart of TPT is the belief in distinct experiential moments of profound healing that result in a healthier you.  Therapists have often called such epiphanies, "aha" moments.  Prior to these moments, there is often paradoxically an increase in resistance.  Understanding resistance to change is essential to overcoming it.  Dealing with resistance requires an understanding of some basic elements of psychodynamics.

Armed with a good grasp of your mind's complexity and emotional make up, you are ready to work on yourself with renewed optimism and hope.
